What is SMRT and how does it differ from ‘traditional’ massage?
SMRT is the passive contraction of muscles, ligaments, connective tissues, and bones simultaneously to allow spontaneous release of these structures.
Passive implies the therapist is doing to the work while the client is passive on the table. Contraction is what we call the shortening of tissues; think of a bicep contraction.
The therapist will put your body in a position that shortens the tissue being worked on and will hold that contraction until the tissues release. It may not feel like much is happening while you’re on the table, but this work is deep and gentle.
What is cupping?
Cupping in an ancient form of therapy in which a small, plastic, bell-shaped cup is placed on the skin. Suction is created with the use of a hand pump. Use of cupping creates a negative pressure on the muscle, which increases blood flow to the area and often releases adhesions in the muscle tissue restoring balance and muscle tissue flexibility.
What will I experience with the Raindrop Technique?
Oils are dropped along the spine, neck, and feet, creating the feeling of a raindrop. The session lasts approximately an hour but you’ll feel the effects for up to a week!
Some of the many benefits of the Raindrop Technique include pain reduction, reduced inflammation, muscle relaxation, improved circulation, improved immune function, and detoxification of body systems.
What type of oil do you use?
I use organic, food-grade, non-gmo, vegan fractionated coconut oil. This odorless, liquid coconut oil absorbs easily into the skin and is a great moisturizer. If you’d prefer a different type of oil, please let the therapist know during booking.
What do I wear during a massage?
Traditionally, massage is performed with the client fully undressed. This allows the therapist access to all muscles. Rest assured, the sheet is conservatively draped with only the part being worked on exposed.
Your comfort is a top priority at Simply Well. You are welcome to leave on any garment which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed.
Should I talk during a massage?
Although some people prefer to hold a conversation during a massage, don’t hesitate to simply close your eyes and relax. Simply Well exists to help you towards your health goals. In this, there are times when you should speak up:
- the room or table warmer is too hot or too cold
- you experience any pain
- you have a question about the massage or massage technique
- you forgot to mention something during the consultation
What forms of payment do you accept?
Simply Well accepts cash or check as payment.
Should I tip my therapist?
Industry standard is 15-20%. You should tip as you feel appropriate.
Do you have gift certificates available?
Yes, gift certificates are available in any amount. Please call, text, or email to order a gift certificate. The certificate can then be picked up at the office or mailed to you.
